“"When I found out I had a place in the 2005 London Marathon through the ballot, I thought 'wowee!' and was so excited. I had been enjoying Gus's fun classes for a few years and wished for him to train me.
Gus worked out a schedule and did a health check. My training sessions were fitted around mey needs. Gus was very flexible about times. When I got annoyed with myself, Gus always remained positive, giving me encouragement all the way. There were days when I wanted to give up, but Gus never took a bit of notice! I was advised throughout on eating, stretching, how to position myself correctly and how to cope.
Marathon day came, and I achieved my dream in 6 hours, 6 minutes. Gus was supporting me at the start line and all the way.
I have learned to eat correctly for sustained energy, how important it is to stretch at all times, and not to be so hard on myself in performance. Also, to rest and listen to my body.
Gus made all my training sessions full of fun. He was truly a professional. Always on time. Never the 'heavy' trainer. Tremendous support.
I couldn't have wished for anyone else to train me. It was an enjoyable experience and am putting into practice all I have learned."
